OutReach United is managed by an all-volunteer Board of Directors.  These dedicated individuals work to fulfill OutReach United’s mission, manage day-to-day activities, and grow the organization.  If you are interested in volunteering please email us at info@outreachunited.org

Co-Founder & Chairman of the Board: Gary Wood

 

Gary is the Chief Operating Officer of a National Recruiting Company that is based in Houston, TX. For the last 20 years he also has dedicated his energy and efforts on working with many local nonprofit and charitable LGBT organizations. He currently is on the Board of the Montrose Center and President of Outreach United.  Through these efforts of philanthropy Gary was given the incredible honor of being named the Grand Marshall of the Houston Pride Parade in 2010 and continues to be recognized as a leader of the GLBT community for his volunteerism, fundraising and activism. He feels that his greatest successes are still to come and is dedicated to get more people involved in organizations that profoundly help the GLBT community.

President: Tim Stokes

 

Tim Stokes is the President of OutReach United and has been an active member of the organization since its inception.  Tim is a native Houstonian who has worked in the financial services industry for 15 years, including time at the US Treasury in Washington, D.C.  Other volunteer organizations Tim has served on include Out for Education as a Board member, the Houston SPCA where he cared for large dogs and assisted with adoptions, and the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo where he currently serves as a Vice Chairman for one of their largest committees.  Tim lives in Katy with his partner of over 10 years, and his dog (Dallas) and cat (Tex).

Co-Founder & Vice President: Bryant Johnson-Wood

 

Bryant Johnson is the First Vice President for OutReach United and co-founder of the organization.  Bryant was born in Hawaii into a military family and traveled a lot, but is happy to call Houston home.  He started out his career as a classroom teacher and then after a couple years took a break to work at The Montrose Center in the Education Department.  It was then that Bryant fell in love with the LGTB community and developed a desire to give back.  Working on the SPRY program and helping educate our youth ignited his passion for volunteerism.  Following his work at the Montrose Center, Bryant went back into the classroom and now teaches second grade at River Oaks Elementary School.  Bryant is Gary Wood's husband of over ten years and they live happily with their three dogs, Max, Miley, and Madison.   

Treasurer:  Micheal Reeves

 

Micheal Reeves is the Treasurer for OutReach United.  He graduated from The University of Texas at Austin in 1991 with a masters degree in accounting.  He has been a Certified Public Accountant since 1993.  Micheal worked in public accounting for 20 years and has extensive experience auditing non-profit entities.  He currently works for one of the 100 largest non-profit organizations in the country as the controller.  Micheal has been with his current employer for 7 years and is responsible for the day to day accounting and monthly financial reporting of the entity.  He has lived in Houston for 26 years and been involved with various non-profit organizations both as a volunteer and a board member through the years.  He and his husband Scott have been together for 18 years.

Secretary: Bob Briddick

 

Bob Briddick is the Secretary for OutReach United.  After a 38 year career managing Designer Showrooms in the Decorative Center of Houston, Bob retired and has been doing volunteer work at the Montrose Center (Volunteer of the Year Award 2014), Bayou Bend Museum Docent, Rienzi Museum Docent (on Docent Board 2015), various fundraisers including the Heritage Gala Award 2015 and the Kindred Spirits Community Treasure Award 2015.  Bob is active in the Diana Foundation (past president, past board member, recipient of Golden Bow Award for service to the organization), and is an active member in the Gourmettes cooking club and MSIO Mardi Gras Club, and am one of the hosts of the Mystery and Fantasy Mardi Gras Party.

Director of Events:  Carol Wyatt-Woodell

 

Carol Wyatt-Woodell is the Director of Events for OutReach United.  She has been a connector in Houston’s LGBT community since the early 90s, when she began publishing her Social Notes community newsletter and website, which now has over 3000 subscribers.  Carol served on the board of Pride Houston for 4 years, including terms as Vice President and President.  She was co-founder of Northwest Corner, the social and civic group for LGBT’s living outside the loop, which in its heyday had over 200 members.  For 16 years, Carol held an annual charity Christmas party at her home which raised over $60,000 for a variety of LGBT charities.  Past honors include 2010 Grand Marshal of the Houston Pride Parade, 2006 Grand Marshal of the TGRA Rodeo, 2004 Winner of Uncommon Legacy’s Extra Mile Award, and serving as Honorary Chairs of the Montrose Center Gala, the M.E.N. Inc Galas and the Outreach United Vegas Night.  A native Houstonian, Carol is married to fellow board member Sallie Wyatt-Woodell.  They share their home with 3 cats and 2 dogs.  Carol is a software sales professional in the contact center industry.

 
Director of Volunteers:  Sallie Wyatt-Woodell

 

Sallie Wyatt-Woodell is the Director of Volunteers for OutReach United and has been an active volunteer in Houston’s LGBT community since 2010, when she joined and later became secretary of the Diana Foundation, which is the longest-running LGBT non-profit in the United States.    From 2013-2016, Sallie and her wife opened their home to host a holiday party which benefitted different LGBT non-profit organizations each year and raised thousands of dollars each year.  After leaving the Diana Foundation in 2013, Sallie then joined the Kindred Spirits Foundation and later became the secretary of that organization until its absorption into the Montrose Center in 2016.  Additionally, in 2013, Sallie joined the board of Out for Education, an organization which raises money to send LGBT students to college.  In 2014, Sallie was named the community and donor outreach of the organization and was elected secretary, positions she still holds to date.  From 2015 to 2016, Sallie joined forces with her wife and fellow OutReach board member, Carol Wyatt-Woodell, and joined the HRC table captain committee and successfully increased attendance for the event.  In 2016, Sallie dipped her toes in political activism and joined the Houston branch of the Victory Fund, which works to elect eligible LGBT candidates to office.  Sallie and her wife, both native Houstonians, strive to make their corner of the world a better place.  They live in northwest Houston with their quirky pack of three dogs and two cats. 

Director of Marketing and Communications:  Jack Berger

 

Jack Berger is the Director of Marketing and Communications for OutReach United.

Jack brings a great deal of experience having been part of Bunnies on the Bayou, which has been raising money in our community for 38 years.  He served four years as its president and signed checks for local LGBT non-profits for more than $400,000 during that span.   During his tenure the organization continued to grow and expand its scope from hosts and sponsors, to adding new and diverse beneficiaries.  Jack also serves on the board of the Lesbian Health Initiative and is a member of EPAH, an LGBT professional networking group.   He is a past board member of the Bayou City Performing Arts group and the Houston Tennis Club.  During the day, Jack is an Advertising Media Manager for OutSmart Magazine and loves his job in sales and marketing.  He is a Syracuse University graduate and the very proud dad of two sons.
